Brent Yamamoto
Expert Instructor
Brent Yamamoto has a diverse martial background and has trained in armed and unarmed disciplines for over 40 years. He teaches all the Suarez curriculum for pistol, rifle, and shotgun, and specializes in the seamless integration of the pistol with hand-to-hand skills. He also created the Pistol Ground Fighting course for Suarez Tactics.
Brent understands the needs of different students – whether beginners, intermediates, or advanced student – and excels at making all of them more capable. He is good at identifying each student’s need for improvement and helping them reach their potential.
There’s a lot more to dealing with violence than just shooting accurately. Most firearms instructors approach violence problems from the standpoint of a shooter, but although shooting well is necessary, it is not sufficient. To prevail, one needs the mindset of the fighter. Brent can teach you what to do, how to do it, and, more importantly, he can explain the WHY.
Brent’s goal is to provide students with an integrated program of instruction, making them well-rounded and able to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Ideally, if you carry a gun, you should be able to deal with threats from all ranges…everything from bad-breath distance to as far as your pistol or rifle can reach.
Keep your mind and body sharp, because you must be able to do difficult things under pressure. Learn the fundamental skills because they are necessary.
Understand and embody the principles and you will be able to apply those skills appropriately. Mastering these things will turn a good fighter into a great one.
With a little understanding and a lot of hard work, you can accomplish amazing things.

Testimonials
I have been involved in martial arts training for 50 years. Met and trained with lots of men...some who could fight...some who called themselves all manner of titles. In those years I have met very few Karate masters...very ****ing few. Brent...yes...he is among them.
Brent Yamamoto [is] doing some amazing stuff. Stuff that harkens back to the legends I heard as a wee beginner. It’s not mystical. It is structure. Applying bone rather than muscle…the things that the internal stylists talk about, but [he] can apply them moving and even fighting, something I have seen rarely in internal stylists. And [he] can teach. Things that the instructors in the eighties pretended to know.
Been training off and on with Brent for, what, five years or so. If you don't train with Brent when opportunity presents, you are an idiot. Integrity, patience, clarity, depth of knowledge and the ability to go from zero to deadly in .02 seconds. And that's just a snapshot of a man I count as a friend. He'll do to ride the river with.
Traded punches/strikes with Brent Yamamoto today. I have not been hit with this kind of force in a long, long time. I have a lot to learn about power. I outweigh him by at least 30lbs, and he let me straight punch him full force in the solar plexus. He shrugged it off like nothing. This is a big deal.
Brent led a seminar that many participants thought was one of the best they had ever attended. Considering the seminars we’ve hosted, this was high praise indeed. The material Brent presents is guaranteed to be a game changer. Train with him if you get the chance. It will take your martial arts to another level.
