Jon Payne

Jon Payne is one of our Suarez Tactics Instructors from the State of Texas. Jon began training with Gabe Suarez in 2009 and was selected by Gabe as a Staff Instructor in 2010. While well known for his pistol skills, Jon is qualified to teach the majority of the courses offered by Suarez Tactics and is just as proficient with a rifle as he is a handgun and shotgun. Jon’s classes are taught in Orange TX at the Orange Gun Club, but travels when the mission requires.

Jon’s training and teaching are based on what he has experienced as a USAF Security Policeman, USAF Combat Arms Instructor, Air Base Defense Team Member, Corrections Officer, and Texas Peace Officer.

As a Texas Peace Officer, Jon attained the certification of Master Peace Officer, Texas Commission on Law Enforcement/TCOLE Instructor, and TCOLE Firearms Instructor. He has trained SWAT Teams, individual team members, as well as individual members of US military Special Tactics Teams.

Jon studies edged weapons, as well as unarmed combatives. Jon is a 1st Dan in Taekwondo (ranked by GM Choi John Jung and the Kukkiwon) and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu (ranked by Royce Gracie, Cliff Hargrave). His martial studies have included Kajukembo, Hapkido, and Tukong Moosul.
